We have about 30 hectares of our own vineyards of different ages and with different training systems.
It is our small contribution to the genetic diversity of our grape variety, Tinta del País. We have selected buds from the best old vineyards in the entire area to graft into our field, which gives us differentiating nuances in our wines.
SURROUNDINGS
We are in the south of the province of Burgos, within the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin. Magical place for the vineyard, more than 950 meters above sea level.
An area of the Páramo de Corcos with enviable conditions for growing vineyards at the foot of the Serrezuela and near a forest of oak and holm oaks.
CLIMATE AND SOIL
The soil of our vineyards is a happy exception within the environment. It is a sandy, alluvial soil, with pebbles on the surface, a soil that is not very fertile, a wonder for vineyard cultivation.
The zoning of our soil indicates (variations of) three different soils, which provide nuances, complexity, and differentiation to our wines.
Temperature contrasts are the key, between day and night, between summer and winter, variations of up to 20º C in one day. Low rainfall barely exceeds 400 mm. Moderate winds that favour health.
LANDSCAPE AND ECOSYSTEM
Dry Paramo with steppe areas near the oak, holm oak and pine forests of La Serrezuela.
Authentic reservoir of biodiversity where many species coexist.
BIODIVERSITY
Great diversity of flora and fauna, we find the last strongholds of the Ricotí Lark, along with populations of the queen of the steppes, the Great Bustard.
Great variety of insects, birds, amphibians, and mammals. We work in collaboration with Grefa on a project to reintroduce insectivorous birds, bats and day and night birds of prey, with the placement of nest boxes and hunting perches.
We carry out repopulation and forestry work around our vineyards.
